A Good Writing Resource

Something to help you in writing your story

There are a lot of resources available to us as writers, whether you are writing fiction or non-fiction. For today, I am going to focus on one that I have used successfully for the past three NaNoWriMo events in 2017, 2018 and 2019 so that is proof that this resource will help. That resource being, Book in a Month by Victoria Lynn Schmidt.

The book was very useful, especially the first year doing NaNoWriMo in 2017, the story called Burned about an undercover cop who rescues someone from being killed by a biker gang, I’m not going to give you all the details but I am planning on getting the book published late next year or early 2022.

The idea behind Book in a Month, is like NaNoWriMo, to get a first draft finished in a month. Like most first drafts, or all first drafts, it won’t be publishable just yet after you finish it, that’s what editing and revising are for.

Book in a Month takes you through several exercises starting with the outline and act 1 in the first week of the program. Weeks 2 and 3 are for the second act while the 4th week is for the third act and the climax of your story.
