Sarah picked up the item and spun it back and forth in front of her eyes, it seemed strange, she never seen anything like this before. She opened it up, and the inside had the word cassette, release date was 1999. But this year was 2112, well over a hundred years since anything like this has ever been created. She stood there, mouth agape, not knowing what to do with it.

50 years had past since all electronics had stopped working, ever since the solar flare. And at 21 years old, Sarah had only known a life since post-apocalypse. This run down building an hour’s walk away from her family’s Homestead was her little sanctuary that she loved to explore. But she knew he would have to get back home soon. Chores awaited, that she could never get out of. But she did come here and played over in her mind the stories her grandfather used to tell her of the times when they were vehicles called cars and trucks that were driven without the use of horses.

Grandpa was always very silly, she thought. How could a vehicle ever be driven without the use of a horse or oxen? She decided then, to take the cassette home and ask Grandpa what it was used for. She stuck it in her pocket, and left the building, and started skipping the way home. Out here she can still be the little girl again, and not have to worry about her upcoming wedding. Perhaps one day she thought, arranged marriages will…
